Nestled within the prime historical landmark location of Sheehans Creek, Putiputi Iti has direct access t-o the harbour waterfront at the bottom of the Pouto Peninsula on the cusp of the Kaipara Harbour and the Tasman Sea. The luxury lodgings sits proudly, embraced by a 540 acre waterfront working farm. The Pouto Peninsula is a small outlier coastal community approximately 1 hours’ drive from the historical service town of Dargaville and approximately 3.5 hours drive from central Auckland.
The remote location of the community with its absence of modern development and the heavy footprint of mass tourism has enabled the preservation of marine life and the organic aesthetic of nature to flourish. We are surrounded by miles of pristine Westcoast beaches, freshwater lakes, huge dunes, valleys and of course the calm waters of the Kaipara harbour. The historical lighthouse has famously given Pouto a comanding jewel in her crown. Undiscovered, untouched and beautifully raw and real – Pouto.
A painstakingly restored midcentury fishing batch located within the historic Sheehans Creek on the Pouto peninsula waterfront. The original rudimentary exterior structure, made from milled timber off the farm melts into its natural surrounds. The re-imagined luxury interior uses the highest quality of local and globally sourced interior finishes, whilst recycled native timber doors and windows pay homage to a world with a softer footprint. An eclectic mix of hand selected vintage and artisan homewares creates a symphonic atmosphere for our guests luxury organic getaway. Grid free and slow without compromise.

AMMENITIES.
Putiputi Iti has been designed as a luxury getaway for two adults. However, with our sofa bed and day bed, we are happy to accommodate up to two extra adults (4 adults per night) or families of two adults and up to three children (under 12) per night.
